Treatments we offer
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are an injectable cosmetic substance used to restore volume and fullness to the face, diminish wrinkles and fine lines, and enhance facial contours. They are frequently used to treat signs of ageing and enhance facial look.
During the procedure, the filler is injected directly into the face’s desired locations, including the lips and nasolabial folds (smile lines). A more young and rejuvenated appearance is achieved by the filler’s addition of volume and plumping up of the treated area, which also smooth’s out creases and lines.
Depending on the type of filler used and the person’s metabolism, the effects of dermal fillers are temporal and can last somewhere from a few months to over a year. The filler gradually degrades and gets absorbed by the body over time.
Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure used to exfoliate the outermost layers of the skin. It involves using a sterile surgical scalpel to gently scrape away dead skin cells and fine facial hair, commonly known as “peach fuzz.” This procedure is performed on the face and neck.
Benefits of dermaplaning include:
Exfoliation: By removing dead skin cells and other impurities, dermaplaning promotes a smoother and more even complexion.
Enhanced skincare product absorption: After dermaplaning, skincare products can penetrate more effectively into the deeper layers of the skin, maximizing their benefits.
Softened appearance of fine lines and wrinkles: The exfoliation process can help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in a more youthful-looking complexion.
Improved makeup application: Dermaplaning creates a smoother canvas for makeup, allowing for better adherence and a more flawless finish.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peel is a cosmetic procedure that involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin to improve its texture, tone, and appearance. The chemical solution causes controlled damage to the outermost layers of the skin, promoting exfoliation and the regeneration of new skin cells.
At Porter Brook we offer – superficial light peels: These peels involve the application of a mild acid to exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin. Superficial peels are generally used to treat mild skin discoloration, rough texture, and fine wrinkles. They usually require little to no downtime and may need to be repeated periodically to maintain results.
LED Light Therapy
LED light therapy, also known as phototherapy or low-level light therapy (LLLT), is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular activity in the skin. It involves the use of light-emitting diode (LED) devices that emit various colors of light to target different skin concerns.
LED light therapy works by delivering light energy to the deeper layers of the skin. The different colors of light used in LED therapy have specific effects on the skin:
Red light: Red light with a wavelength of around 630-700 nanometers (nm) is commonly used in LED therapy. It stimulates collagen production, improves blood circulation, and promotes cellular repair. Red light therapy is often used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, promote skin rejuvenation, and improve overall skin texture.
Blue light: Blue light with a wavelength of around 405-470 nm is known for its antibacterial properties. It helps kill acne-causing bacteria and is commonly used in the treatment of acne and blemishes. Blue light therapy can help reduce inflammation and promote clearer skin.
Green light: Green light with a wavelength of around 520-570 nm is believed to target melanocytes, the pigment-producing cells in the skin. It can help reduce pigmentation irregularities, such as sunspots or hyperpigmentation.
Yellow light: Yellow light with a wavelength of around 570-590 nm is often used to soothe the skin, improve lymphatic drainage, and reduce redness or inflammation. It can be beneficial for individuals with sensitive or irritated skin.
At Porter Brook Dental we offer LED Light Therapy as a complimentary service after chemical peels, microneedling and dermaplaning procedures.
Vitamin B12 Injections
Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is an essential nutrient that plays a crucial role in the formation of red blood cells, DNA synthesis, and the normal functioning of the nervous system.
These injections are typically used for individuals who have a deficiency of this vitamin or have difficulty absorbing it from food sources. Some people who may benefit from B12 injections include those with pernicious anemia, gastrointestinal disorders that affect B12 absorption, certain genetic conditions, and individuals who follow a strict vegan or vegetarian diet since vitamin B12 is primarily found in animal-based foods.
By administering vitamin B12 directly into the body through injections, it bypasses the need for absorption through the digestive system, which can be problematic for individuals with absorption issues. Injections allow for a more efficient and direct delivery of the vitamin into the bloodstream, ensuring adequate levels are maintained.
Microneedling
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves using a Dr Pen device with fine needles to create small punctures in the skin. This procedure is also known as collagen induction therapy. The purpose of microneedling is to stimulate the body’s natural healing response and promote collagen production.
During a microneedling session the device is dragged 4 different ways over the skin, creating controlled micro-injuries. These micro-injuries trigger the body’s wound healing process, which includes the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that contribute to the skin’s strength, elasticity, and overall appearance.
The benefits of microneedling include:
Skin rejuvenation: Microneedling can improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. It helps to promote the production of new collagen, which can lead to smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.
Scar reduction: Microneedling can be effective in reducing the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks. The tiny punctures created during the procedure stimulate the remodeling of scar tissue, leading to improved texture and blending with the surrounding skin.
Hyperpigmentation treatment: Microneedling can help with conditions like hyperpigmentation and melasma by promoting the turnover of skin cells and improving the even distribution of pigmentation.
Enhanced product absorption: The micro-injuries created by microneedling facilitate better penetration and absorption of topical skincare products. This can maximize the effectiveness of serums, creams, and other skincare treatments. Microneedling procedure may cause temporary redness, mild swelling, and skin sensitivity, but these side effects usually subside within a few days. The number of sessions needed varies depending on the individual’s goals and the condition being treated
Skin Boosters (Injectable moisturisers)
Injectable moisturisers are solutions, generally made of hyaluronic acid, that are injected beneath the surface of the skin. Working from the inside out, injectable moisturisers remodel the appearance of the skin by providing intense hydration, improving elasticity and texture, and boosting luminosity. The result is plumper, softer and radiant-looking skin.
The skin booster treatment will involve a series of tiny injections, strategically placed around the treatment area, to facilitate the maximum possible effect.
